Poltrona Cornice is defined by a substantial upholstered frame that wraps around a softer inner seat, giving the chair the appearance of one volume held inside another. The squared outer shell creates architectural clarity, while the rounded inner cushion and gently reclined back soften the posture. A slim circular base keeps the mass of the chair visually lifted and introduces a precise metallic line beneath the upholstery. Cornice works equally well as a solitary statement chair or as a repeated pair in a formal lounge setting.
Width: 30.7 in (78 cm)
Depth: 30.7 in (78 cm)
Height: 28.3 in (72 cm)
Seat Height: 16.5 in (42 cm)
Outer shell constructed from kiln-dried solid beech and laminated 15–18 mm birch plywood, reinforced at the base connection with concealed steel plates. The seat uses 60–80 mm premium elastic webbing beneath a 42–45 kg/m³ HR foam core and 32–35 kg/m³ comfort layer. Back and arm padding use 28–32 kg/m³ shaped foam with a 200–250 g/m² batting wrap. Inner and outer upholstery panels are separately tailored so contrasting leather or textile can be specified without compromising seam control. Leather versions use full-grain semi-aniline bovine hide with carefully matched grain and double-needle or saddle-style stitching at exposed edges. The circular swivel base is 304 stainless steel or structural steel with a solid bearing plate, finished in polished, brushed, blackened or PVD metal. The swivel mechanism is concealed and serviceable from below.
