Poltrona Cortina is built around contrast: a dark, protective outer shell surrounds a pale, deeply tactile interior, creating a seat that feels both sculptural and cocooning. The rounded body wraps continuously around the user, while the plush inner upholstery softens the geometry and gives the chair a distinctly intimate character. From the front it feels generous and inviting; from the side and rear, the darker shell gives it a cleaner architectural presence. Cortina is designed as a statement lounge chair rather than a conventional upholstered seat.
Width: 43.3 in (110 cm)
Depth: 30.7 in (78 cm)
Height: 30.7 in (78 cm)
Curved structural shell in laminated birch plywood over a kiln-dried solid-beech subframe, with concealed steel reinforcement at the base and swivel attachment. The seat uses premium elastic webbing beneath a 42–45 kg/m³ HR foam core and 32–35 kg/m³ comfort layer; back and side surfaces use shaped 28–32 kg/m³ foam. The inner seating face is upholstered in genuine wool shearling or a dense premium wool pile, pattern-matched and hand-trimmed around the curved opening. The outer shell is finished in full-grain semi-aniline leather or a tightly tailored contrasting textile, separated from the inner material by a precise piped or saddle-stitched edge. A concealed 360-degree steel swivel plate is mounted to a recessed powder-coated or blackened-steel base. Replaceable floor glides and serviceable mechanical fasteners are concealed beneath the chair.
